For this piece, I wanted to focus on the idea of Innocence.
In my Philosophy class, I studied the idea of innocence in a persons life. When we are young, we have a narrow view of the world and can sometimes feel trapped in the confines of naivety.
One behavior I have noticed is the excitement every child has to grow up and take on the world. Unfortunately, as we grow, we learn that while we make have more freedoms, we are still trapped within a cage of new responsibilities.
I began this piece with a thin sheet of metal and using white acrylic paint, I dropped large splatters onto the surface. With charcoal I added the drawing of the girl in the bird cage and the large bird.
I then digitally added a larger facial bird frame above them and placed a colorful featured texture throughout.
