For my final project in 2D design, I was assigned the job in replicate a famous piece of art. My choice was “The California Man” by Michael Michael Motorcycle.
The simple color-scheme and unique use of line and shape really captured my in choosing this piece. While Motorcycle uses screen printing for his work, I decided to use acrylic on canvas for my project.
Using a grid system, I replicated each square to properly mimic Motorcycles' design onto a large canvas. I then painted a large wash along the background and feathered areas. I added lines and mid-tones throughout the painting finishing off with the few bright highlights.
