For a self portrait, I wanted to convey the thoughts I have about myself rather than just my physical appearance.
My entire life I have yearned to truly connect to the people around me. In my past, I have struggled to have people truly understand me, so I turned to art in order to express my feelings.
I created a poster featuring a illustrative depiction of myself. Being someone who has always connected to the adults in my life more than the people my age, I chose to include a large beehive hairstyle.
While working on my poster, I originally began with a traditional color pallet, using browns and peaches. I began experimenting with inverting my layers, to demonstrate how I view my thoughts as different from others.
Finally, I added a circular icon to symbolize the loneliness I sometimes feel, isolated from those around me. I chose to foil the symbol in gold, representing that while we may feel apart from those around us, we are all still brilliant in our own way.
