FALL IN BLUE
PASTEL PAINTING
For the Spring Student Art Show at the Woodbury Art Museum, I wanted to contribute a work of art in a new medium I had never tried before.
I picked a favorite image of my niece at the pumpkin patch. Making a few final adjustments prior to drawing, I changed shirt colors and lightened skin tones to enhance my final drawing.
Starting with drawings, I began with lightly sketching out placement and facial features. Using pastel chalks and pencils, I began with her face and skin tones and worked outwards. Adding splashes of blues, reds, greens and violets, I finished the pumpkins and made the last few minor adjustments needed to make my drawing pop.
